Welcome! My name is Valery Kulaga (or Valeriy Kulaha in oficial ukrainian transcription), and I am the founder and sole creator of 1yachtua.com.My journey into yachting and marine navigation began back in 1998 when I registered this domain and launched the very first version of the website. In those early days of the internet, quality information for yachtsmen was hard to come by.
Since day one, I have built, filled, and developed this resource entirely on my own:Authentic Content: I researched, translated, and wrote every article myself, mastering the English language along the way through maritime manuals and reference books.
Custom Graphics: I hand-drew yacht layouts, deck plans, and detailed charts of Mediterranean marinas to make navigation easier and more intuitive for fellow sailors.
Years of working with graphics, harbor layouts, and cartography naturally steered me toward a new horizon. My accumulated experience and lifelong passion for the sea evolved into a small own business: the production of chipest electronic marine charts, which has been my primary focus until recently.
My passion for the sea and engineering eventually led me beneath the surface. In 2022, I officially received a US Patent for my invention in diving technology — a next-generation, wrist n capillary depth gauge.I have developed and built a working prototype of this innovative device. My wife and I found refuge from the war in Poland in March 2022. But the war continues, and people are starting to get tired of helping the victims. Governments are starting to cut budgets, and we are again forced to look for a new shelter. Unfortunately, rental prices are completely out of my budget - I'm probably a bad financier and for the last 25 years I've been drawing, selling inexpensive nautical charts and paying for the maintenance of my website. As a result, it was not possible to make the savings necessary for a peaceful old age, and the loss of our house in Ukraine made my wife and I homeless at the age of 73.
